Update, December 12, 2020: Due to Allegheny County’s most recent updates, our services continue to be available online for groups and appointments. For all existing appointments in our schedule (privates, duets, and trios) contact your teacher directly to make a plan going forward. Please reach out with any questions. You can read our general COVID-19 plan on this page.
As the COVID-19 Pandemic continues, we have made adjustments to provide instruction to our students in both studio and online environments. Here is what you can expect from both:
We have created several virtual options to continue your practice if you choose not to or cannot join us in-person at the studio…
We’ve risen to the challenges of resourcefulness and creativity to honor individual choices within our community. We’ve also supported certain teachers that have chosen not to return to in-studio work. In addition, there may be times where local regulations prevent us from practicing in the studio.
Therefore, we’re thrilled to offer virtual offerings for any of our session types, including privates, semi-privates, trios and group classes. For privates, semi-privates and trios, simply reach out to your teacher and request to meet online for your session(s). For new clients, class links are sent within 12 hours of the class (same working day). If you book the same-day as a scheduled class, you might receive a link until just before class or the hour before your lesson. The individual teacher is responsible for sending links, so the timing is based on their availability. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t receive the link immediately upon registering.
What’s a virtual class like? Is it as good?
The virtual offerings aren’t missing anything. There is virtually as much precision in terms of cues, etc. Many of our client have been practicing virtually since the start of the pandemic and tell us that that quality of the instruction is equal to that of the studio environment.
When possible, join us in the studio for private, duet, trio or group sessions…
- By appointment only
- Wear a mask
- Wash hands immediately upon entering the studio, prior to preparing for class
- Maintain distancing guidelines
- We’re fully stocked with hand sanitizer for your use
- Clean all surfaces touched after completing your session
The studio has taken additional measures to keep you safe, such as:
- Upgrading to a stronger disinfectant formula used to disinfect high-touch surfaces within our space, including equipment
- Maintaining a daily cleaning regimen of high-touch surfaces (in addition to client cleanings in between appointments)
- Increased ventilation, with fans on and windows open during sessions and an upgraded air purifier system
Our big ask is that you stay home if you aren’t feeling well or have been exposed to a high-risk situation.
We are standing up to make solutions for our clients to continue their practice, but also asking our clients to work with us. If you have been exposed to any high-risk situations, such as travel, attending large events or exposure to someone known to have COVID, please elect to practice through our virtual offerings temporarily. Please use your best judgement and be transparent with us.
Since reopening in June when our area was entered the “green” phase, we haven’t had a case in our community as of yet. In order to continue this, we need to be forthright with our exposure in order to make this work essential.
We hope to see you – whether online or in person. Stay safe, healthy and well!
